  • Aaah, fantastic! Beautiful sound & a very pretty tune indeed! Thanks for sharing.

Getting into the Guild GAD conversation, I have the Guild GAD 50, as well as two Martins, the D15 & D18. I was shocked at how good & how well made the GAD was. I bought it online for $800.00 as a hack guitar, but now find I'm playing it more often than the others. It definitely equals the D15 for sound & is remarkably playable. Oh, & the finish is remarkable! ♪

  • @Gingerjake2 - I very much appreciate my USA Guild D50, but my China made jumbo is no slouch. For recording I generally use the GAD mahogany jumbo. It produces less bass than the D50 but is well balanced and crisp.

  • That sounded very good, very well balanced..What do you think of the Guild that was made in 2007 by tacoma washington factory with the bolt on neck, you think its a crappy guitar ? Ive bought one and it was $600 quite pricey and it was a second

  • Huh? I consider my Tacoma Guild D50 as a very nice guitar, not at all crappy. I'm 99.99% certain the neck is traditional glued in dovetail joint, not bolt on neck. If you bought one for $600 that is a fine deal.

  • nice fingerstyle playing. Let me throw in my opinion I just finished playing a guild GAD50 and I own a 1987 guild D40. To me there is no comparison the gad series does not have the tone of the american guild the gad series sounds tinny.

  • I also own a GAD series Guild guitar, although a mahogany jumbo that has a well rounded tone. It is brighter than the D50 but that's to be expected from mahogany as opposed to the rosewood D50. Still, my GAD Jumbo sounds pretty good, but not as good as my D50. I'm curious about the D50s now made in Conneticut (mine is Tacoma, WA). Seem to have the same specs other than the tuning keys.

  • Very pretty. I've got a D-50 I bought new in '83. Hope you don't mind, but I'm going to do my best to learn this tune. If you name it, let me know and I'll be happy to give you credit when I play it out. :-)

  • @ldolamore My dream is to own a vintage (1969) Guild F212, but I have to wait til I find one...& then find the money to buy it. Don't ya hate details? =D

That is a beautiful sounding instrument you have tho', for sure. Thanks for sharing with us. ♫

  • I just use what I've got. Most of the guitars I've owned have been dreadnaughts that seem versatile, at least in my opinion. I've owned 000s and a few other body shapes and they were nice but I always end up back to a dreadnaught. Works for me, might or might not work for you.
