George Barnes - Mama Inez

From the liner notes (circa 1960): MAMA INEZ-From the album GUITAR GALAXIES. This is a fine swinging interpretation of a melody with a familiarity brought on by many years of popular standing. Here Barnes gets into a jazz mood and swings the ensembles along with him. There is interesting interplay between the two channels where sound from each flow along in parallel lines, which are interspersed by Barnes' quick phrases giving the impression of punctuation marks. The overall result makes for a lilting rendition in the best traditions of modern jazz.
