!n 2008 a retired man originally from Brooklyn revisits Kiln, MS, where he and three other boys had traveled in 1965 to do volunteer manual labor for a poor Catholic parish (Annunciation). the trip had been sponsored by a priest at Nazareth High School. More than volunteer work, the 1965 trip was an adventure for four not-very-well-traveled kids from Brooklyn. See http://al.cannistraro.googlepages.com

  • Wait, I go to a POOR Catholic parish? That's news to me.

  • That's my recollection of what I was told as a teenager back in the 60's. Things change. In any case, no offense intended.

  • I used to live there Fenton Dedaux Road!

  • so i sort of went to that poor parish for a while :))

  • No need to apologize for saying it was a poor parish. My mom told me that when she was a kid in the 60s almost all of the roads were dirt. The Kiln boomed back in the day but it busted and it was indeed a lower income area. Things have improved over time...thank goodness.
