This is a short clip from the disassembly chapter of the five hour long dvd on Building a Drag Race Powerglide Transmission. The clip shows how to identify the difference between the two standard PG first gear ratio's. The complete copyrighted dvd video has all the details and upgrades needed to build a trans brake PG tranny for a 600 HP engine using a stock donor Powerglide. There's an added bonus disk which shows how the rebuild a planetary using aftermarket straight cut racing gears and building a transbrake using a stock donor valve body.   • used a 1.82 mostly stock everything, down to brown clutches behind a 6.70 steel big block 67 Camaro with no problem and it was pulling 1.48 60 foots. is fact the lighter rotating mass is better for inertia, but what made it work was a strong input shaft and drum. that's like the old saying a 9inch rear-end is the strongest and best for drag racing, when in fact the Dana 60 is lighter and stronger. going one step further the 8.5 Chevy is showing up in 8 and 7 second cars in the 1/4 stock... no

  • @ezcondition I'm sure lots of people have raced the 1.82 over the years but I think they have just been lucky. It's truth that more stock parts can used than many people believe but normally, the 1.76 has more aftermarket support and is the choice of most racers.
