http://www.pbs.org/pov/pov2009/holdmetight/ In Hold Me Tight, Let Me Go, airing on PBS Tuesday, July 28, 2009 (check local listings), Kim Longinotto, one of Britain's leading documentary filmmakers takes a vérité look at Oxford's Mulberry Bush School for emotionally disturbed children. Mulberry's heroically forbearing staff greets extreme, sometimes violent behavior with only consolation and gentle restraint. Kim Longinotto's unblinking camera captures an arduous process and a nearly unhinged environment, but it also records the daily dramas of troubled kids trying to survive and the moments of hope they achieve with Mulberry's clear-eyed staff.

  • another documentary on the history of child abuse and recovery from the 1800s to the late 1980s "Spare The Rod: Politics of Child Abuse"

    /watch?v=iBN9T18QSCI

  • the little girl and the dog was one of the cutest things I've ever seen.

  • I actually went to this school between 1976 and 1980 when i was finnally expelled because they said they could not cope with me .....some help they were

  • I used to feel that behaviorism was all bad as well. Still think that a lot of it is. But, I work as a therapist with children. Behavior management is often the only time you can help these kids. Not until you have workedwith some of these kids, or raised on, will you understand

  • A Clockwork Orange lives on!

  • i'm watching this film now, they should've shown how disturbed the kids are, not how cheery they are. it looks like a regular school, these kids are tornadoes of anger and abuse. so sad.

  • Watched this last night, wonderful documentary, very moving. I really admire everything these teachers and this school are doing, and hope these kids make it because deep down they really are just lonely, confused children who need a helping hand. Bless the Mulberry Bush School for giving it to them!
