the mother is barney's step sister (Jerry's daughter). fact: she goes to college which Jerry mentions and we know that she was in Ted's "Architecture" class (econ class really). We know that Ted meets her at Barney's wedding and why wouldn't a step-sister attend a step-brothers wedding?

PLUS. Barney would be so cool with Ted marrying his step-sister so they can be BROS.
