Ignore the terrible camera sounds. I have one of these right now for an at-home tryout (Gibson Standard). I love it! The 30.5" scale, body size & weight are very comfortable for a 6 string player transitioning over to bass. The tone is as good as any of the American Fenders and G&L that I've tried out but more versatile (though different). It has a strong, deep voice with tight lows and crisp highs. Short scale means tuning down is basically no-go so keep that in mind.

It's actually a lot of fun even though it's simpler than playing a 6 string electric guitar. My music background is in piano and I just started playing bass guitar. I can never seem to put the bass down, because I enjoy playing it so much.

@xmfplt Trust me, just like the pope wears a funny hat, there are no "new" Epiphones that are superior to a Gibson. That's literally like saying that a Honda is more of a luxury car than an Acura.

I only wish the made the Epiphone version in the 30.5inch scale.

Quick question. I play electric guitar (6 string) and I want to learn another instrument would it be boring to play bass after I already know electric guitar

Do not judge any bass from a camera microphone. These vids are for the country's that have now place to see most basses. Go play one for your shelf. Amps- strings-settings on the bass. All come in to play. Gibson make a good bass and has for years. There are better basses and worst ones. Play what You like, find the sound You want! Opinions are like a-hole, everybody got on. Rock on, bassist!
