nice, the SMOT shows it's not impossible. That also sucks the load inwards. Search "SMOT"

of course it will resist until it passes a certain point where the forces are opposite and gives it the "push"

Come onnnnn!  I can see you pushing the magenet into the tube. I see it resisting your push thus it takes work to load and like a spring it just bounces out.

and also the question is... why demo it with the gates so close if they aren't netting a gain, spread themout and see if you can get it to go a longer distance.
