A common problem with Acura TL seat heaters is that the driver seat tends to burn out. The seat heater went out in my 2003 Acura TL Type S. This video shows how to fix this problem. You only need a few tools and a couple hours to repair your seat. You also need a heart of gold. Ok, you really don't need a heart of gold, but it is nice.

For more images and information about this repair, visit the link above.

I am not a professional mechanic, so take this video for what it is worth. I am not a lawyer, so please don't sue me. I am a web developer, so you can hire me to develop a website for you.

  • will this work on an mdx?

  • @notedown1010 Yes. Check out the link to my website in the description. An MDX owner posted a comment stating that the repair job is the same, except the MDX has more hog rings.

  • have you ever had to repair the back, I repaird the butt warmer on mine, but the back is out aswell...

  • I've never repaired the back.

  • Thanks a ton for this video! My Mom's Acura TL had this exact problem. With blind faith, I followed your video and found the wire burnt EXACTLY like you showed in your video. I fixed it like you did and it works! Now I get a call from my Mom every time her drivers seat is warm!

    Great video!

  • I had the same problem with my 2002 Acura TL-S. I followed your instructions explicitly. Perfect perfect perfect! I am not a mechanic and rarely tackle things in my car. I also found the problem exactly as you described. When I had removed everything down to the wires, I noticed the metal bar thing that is held in place by those clips MIGHT be the cause? Could it be shorting out the wire elements? As a precaution I covered that bar in electrical tape. The rest was as described-thank you!

  • thanks for this DIY... you have helped keep many bottoms warm

  • my passenger last month noticed only half of the seat was heating up so i knew something was wrong. I took apart the seat and sure enough there was a severe burn mark where the fault was. however the wire was NOT burnt through. it looked like it got really warm and stretched out which made it get too hot and malfunction. Anyways THANKS to this video i had the confidence to get the job done and it was done with NO SWEAT. everything was super easy accept getting those frigging rings back on omfg

  • Thanks for the demo. My wife doesn't like to read car manuals and likes to have a warm tush...that equals a burnt out driver's seat. What gauge wire did you use?

  • what kind of cable can i use? can i use any kind of cable
