How To Clean A Camcorder

A Basic Tutorial On How To Clean A Consumer Camcorder.

Steps:
1. Use Mini Dv head cleaner for 10-30 seconds

2. Buy a lens hood for your camcorder

3. Clean lens using soft cloth

4. Buy a camera bag to prevent external damage

Please Note That Before Wiping The Lens With A Soft Cloth You Must Remove Any Dirt With An Eye Dropper.

Usually I edit using final cut express, but on this I just used imovie 08.

If you are in the field and need to clean the heads, you can also use a new blank tape. You can also use the unrecorded area of a used tape in a pinch. Once you get back to base though you'll need to use a proper head cleaner.

Just insert the tape like any other tape and press play for 10-30 seconds. Be careful what brand you use because some brands are not made well and will damage your camera. You should clean your camera every 2-3 months of moderate use.

@javieralza The song is Remind Me by Röyksopp, and if you want to clean the inside of the lens, you have to open it up, but your not alone on that problem. I'm stuck with 2 big pieces of dust in mine and I'm afraid I'll break mine if I attempt to open it. It's best to go to a camcorder shop to get that cleaned.

i have found that there are specks of debris on the inside of my viewfinder. i don't think it's on the lens as video quality is unaffected but when i look thru the viewfinder there are these annoying particles obstructing my view. any hints on how to clean?

p.s. camera is a canon mv920
