For me, Pina Bausch has been gorgeous in connecting realistic movements and conceptual impetus in a real successful way: dynamical and statical, natural and metaphysical, philosophical and scientific, absolute and historical at the same time... I have spent my teen-ager years in studying her method and technique... Dance and Theater, together. Her art reflects nature perfectly...
To me, this piece is dark and beautiful, full of innovative movements and intense ambivalence. It's a Rorschach test for the viewer. I see a longing for connection with characters beset by overwhelming forces. A black tarantula, a rape, beauty and the beast, a maniacal male female relationship, dicey at best. In short, a miraculous work and only the beginning.
Surlalune has an intelligent succinct History of Bluebeard. I checked there before opening my bouche. To me, this piece is dark and beautiful, full of innovative movements and intense ambivalence. It's a Rorschach test for the viewer. I see a longing for connection with characters beset by overwhelming forces. A black tarantula, a rape, beauty and the beast, a maniacal male female relationship--dicey at best. In short, a miraculous work and only the beginning.
Bausch and Tanztheatre are always stunning in their intensity, their emotion, and their interpretation of feminity and masculinity, and capture of raw sexual energy.
Was referred here by the Guardian's list of youtube treasures.... and, it's friggin' amazing. Thanks so much to ecrireunmouvement for posting it.... and to Ms Bauch and dancers for their genius.

I hope they come to Australia again soon!
