@blozier2006 I know, i bet those people there were amazed at what they'd witnessed.

@SuperJuliusC EXACTLY, this is the only reason Bret was given this title in 1992. Bret Hart drew more in Canada than Tito did in Mexico or anywhere else in the world, which is why the Tito plan was scrapped and Bret was handed the title... not to say he didn't work for it over the years... would have been interesting if Tito Santana would have been given the belt at that point..
-
@bpatrice49 ... seriously i agree in some extent.. but you are overlooking the bigger picture. Hart was only given this title, in Saskatoon of all places to push a big break in the foriegn market for WWE. The original plan was to put the title on Tito and expand into Mexico but it was scrapped and he was given the El Matador gimmick.

@weslomusiclove (cont'd) - but Shawn nixed that idea quoting "Are we moving forward or taking two steps back?" So Bret had felt shafted when he was given the SCSA feud instead - not shafted in terms of respect, but shafted from being able to earn the top dollar by having a feud with Shawn, and in my opinion, THAT'S when the first seeds of their off-screen feud began.
-
@weslomusiclove - I'm not sure what you're responding to, but I'll just say, it was never about respect it was all about the money and no matter how many times Bret says he did everything for the company, for Vince and for the boys in the back his book tells a completely different story. It was all about Money. Bret even admits it ont eh Rivals DVD that when he came back to the WWF he was expecting to earn money off a one on one feud with Shawn... tbc...
-
@IDIOTdella youre almost correct. it was about respect, not hate.
-
@SuperJuliusC - In all honesty, I really couldn't give that much of a toss if it was a work or not, but if it was a work, it would be a far shittier thing to have done than to have just screwed Bret out of a title that in REALITY is worthless, simply because a fair few people went through hell over it.
-
@SuperJuliusC - I just remembered that we've had this conversation on another vid where you took the time to express your theories. You believe it to be a work, that's fine but to be honest to go into why I don't think it is would take a fair few replies. If you go to the vid "Bret Hart Talks About The Montreal Screw Job" you'll see lengthy discussion I had there as to why I don't think it was a work and why Bret was just as bad as Shawn and McMahon
One of the most significant moments in pro wrestling history. Bret Hart was easily the best wwf champion in history. He brought so much prestige and repsect to professional wrestling. People look back on the bodybuilder freakshow of the 1980's and are probably embarrassed that they bought into it. I gurantee no one who looks back on Bret Hart's era are ashamed they supported him. He made wrestling something to be respected. His history is so significant within pro wrestling

Simple the best WRESTLING champion ever! Bret Hart. Most of the other greats were really more entertainers than wrestlers.
