Having seen many videos of trials on YouTube, it has inspired me to try and learn some of the basic techniques. I'm a big lad at nearly 18 stone, 6ft 4" and know that this is going to slow down the learning process considerably due to lack of fitness. At this stage I only have a HUGE FRAMED Specialized Hardrock Pro Disc (which has just been bought to use as a XC bike and for fitness) - totally the wrong bike to attempt this with (plenty of nut-crushing moments on the top tube!). I have a reasonable sense of balance - which should help - but have not ridden a bike for many years. This is the first installment and I will try and video each day that I practice.

  • Tony, bought another hardrock pro disc but with a 19" frame. A bit small for me generally (I think a 21" on this bike would be better), but much better for trials and XC. Not been out for a few days but will post another vid soon.

  • Really nice! Keep practicing!

  • My bike got stolen yesterday!!!! Thanks for your encouraging comments. Will post again to show progress asap. Soon as I have bought another bike that is.

  • thats pretty good 4 the first day ;)

  • Thanks mate. It looks really lame to me but I wasn't expecting to be Danny MacAskill on my first practice session. Today on my second day practicing the pedal kicks, I learnt that I was in way too low a gear the day before. Went down a couple on the back cassette and it has made a big difference. Short video coming up! Also had a piss about with some 'track standing' and general hopping about to try and learn some balance. God I want a trials bike!!!
