  • all that just to get to 70mph -_- lol

  • @tnphysics If you know how to float gears (not using the clutch), clutching is unnecessary for ALL gears. You select the gear w/the splitter, break torque by letting off the accelerator. When the RPMs come into range, the tranny shifts automatically. If you use LOW in high range (depends on how many gears your tranny has), tranny goes into NEUTRAL for safety protection. HIGH range in reverse, you'll be flying going backwards. So hold onto your butt if you are inexperienced.

  • @StraightSuccess This not my video, but this is how I did it. I drove semi's for 12 years. When downshifting I still "floated the gears". It gets tricky. the trick is to blip the throttle to get it out of gear, then rev the engine to the proper RPM and then slip it into gear. When going from 4th high to 5th low you do not have to use clutch. I have limited space here, so if u have any more ?'s feel free to ask. Hope this helps.

  • @BlkM84 That is correct in most cases. Some transmissions have a double overdrive where the last gear in the main box is overdrive, and on the splitter the back position is direct and the forward position is overdrive. So top gear with splitter up is double overdrive.

  • @StraightSuccess Nope....it called "floating" or "speed-shifting" Learn it and it'll cause less driver fatigue! Find out where your shift point (What RPM to shift up/down from) is......move the shifter from the slot it;s in....move it to the slot ya want and when the RPM level is right....it should slip right in if it's on the right slot. Might take a little practice at first. Once ya get it....you'll never clutch again!

  • @modrendayslave The only way to do it..........

  • nice... what truck?

  • @knightrider1545 Not thtat I am a professional truck driver, but from what I have read and studied about any 13, 15, and 18-speeds is that the splitter in the "back" position is considered to be "direct" and moving it "forward" is "overdrive". But, you can research it for yourself. I could be wrong.

  • that was the best shifting video i have seen yet

  • not bragging, but i can float'em all up and downshifting.
