  • could you mix this specie with for instance crested geckos or cave geckos in a 150 gallon terrarium

  • @kavyaanshrike Yes! You can house red eyed skinks with crested geckos, as long as they are similar in size.

Both species require almost identical tropical conditions; high humidity (60-80) low temperatures (68-78)

both species don't require UVB, (they're both crepuscular and nocturnal.) Only difference is that crested geckos are arboreal and red eyed skinks are burrowers/terrestrial.

Red eyed skinks rarely come out of their tunnels and crested geckos only come down to ground level to eat.

  • @drainpipesolution I would not mix different species. this means a lot of stress for each species.

  • i love this animal got 6 of them at my self in defferent tanks nice vid

  • How big do they get? I'm trying to look for care guides but I am coming up empty. Any info?

  • Plx check out my video abt my skink, i cn use all the help & advice I can get.

  • @kavyaanshrike realy not much point and not a good idea

  • @Tupinambinae It would only mean stress if they were together. For example, Green anoles and Brown anoles have been mixed together, as the Green anoles are arboreal and the Brown anoles are terrestrial. The same principle can be for these.

  • @Tupinambinae @Tupinambinae But crested geckos and red eyed skinks are very docile lizards and don't seem to mind each others presence. I know this because I breed and house both of these species in the same cage. The red eyed skinks often climb on top of branches and rest next to the crested Gs. Same with hatchlings. Anyway, that is what my experience has been over the years.

    Here they're: kslDOTCOM/index.php?nid=218&ad=15555724&cat=110

  • @Tupinambinae I agree with you, to an extent. I don't recommend mixing different ground and arboreal species of any kind, but crested geckos and red eyed skinks are an exception and there are other more lizards that are exceptions as well.

Most lizards are territorial but when you house arboreal lizards with terrestrial there is no territory to fight for. Common sense is don't house a Tokay with a leopard or a Tegu with a Savannah Monitor, even though one is terrestrial and the other arboreal.

  • sorry for the double post.

  • @kavyaanshrike

They ignore each other when they come face to face, and crocodile skinks are not shy around crested geckos.

I breed both of these species and house all my adults in one terrarium and all the hatchlings in another.

All of my red eyed skinks seem to enjoy the company of baby crested geckos and actually spend most of their time next to one another. Amazing little critters!
