Aw, damnit. I hoped something horrible would happen, and everyone would disastrously die in an ironic twist - as it would happen on college humor for example. However this was just a recreation, am I right?

Of course it was a recreation of the book. However, the book ended as told by the narrator. The only death in the book is just poor Godred.
