why sometimes the landing being hard, and sometimes easy?
-
@12CustomTS Thats weird? British airways flies a 747 from London to Phoenix almost every day
-
whoa what ive never seen a 747 at sky harbor usually its just a bunch of 737s 757s and a320s
-
seriously, people here complaining for stop complaining that he said it was a hard landing. This landing was crap, overhead bins aren't supposed to open when lading. They should be perfect, keep passengers in mind and don't make excuses like "Id like to see you land the plane"
-
@tl9380 Yeah, it's easy to say that from your armchair, in landing a 747, even with the electronics, they are just aids, I love to see you land 300 tons of Metal perfectly, every single time, especially if they don't know the airport, which could have happened here, or , maybe the copilot was getting is captiancy check ride, trust me, I've been on many of those flights, and trust me, you know, and inexperienced pilot is more jerk, and less prone to flaring, like in this landing
-
Dude if you guys dont like the landing that i guess you can walk instead of complain.
-
@tl9380 you're right set it up and it practicalyl fly's the approach itsself...
-
There is always a tough ass that would think that this is a soft landing...That was indeed a hard one!
-
Welcome to Phoenix! Now go right on over to 104.7 Kiss FM for ALL THE HITS :D!

I don't get it....so the plane landed a bit hard....whats the fuss about?? It happens...the plane was designed for that. The people inside the plane make it sound like there injured or in pain from the landing....Too much Drama !!
man, people are acting like everything just has to be perfect and if something's not, they're not satisfied. "no applause for the pilot", i'd like to see you try and fly that huge ass plane and land it just how u envision.

I don't think it's unjustified to expect touch-perfect landings from BA captains, especially given just how easy it is to land a 747 in comparison to a smaller aircraft! Point it at the runway, make sure you're on the correct ILS and then, at 250 feet, disconnect the autopilot and gently pull the stick back to flare out for a nice smooth 'kiss-kiss' landing. It's not rocket science!

Thats a classic! The pilot must have been so embarrassed - the noise was incredible, must have felt funny! Greet videography by the way, almost makes you feel you are there, although by the sounds of things it is better just to watch it! Well done, love the BA 747s and that pilot gets my goose of the day :)
BTW, did you see him as you left? Cheers!

Thanks very much!
Yes, the flight crew was somewhat embarassed - the Captain was actually the father of one of my colleagues, a trainee pilot, who asked to be rostered on the flight since we were flying that day. We hung about on the flight deck for a while afterwards and he said that it was actually the First Officer who was at the controls for the landing. Apparently the landings are usually 'positive' at Sky Harbor due to the hight temperature and low air density. Glad you enjoyed it!
