Gamma Ray is an amazing band, but they did not truly find their own voice until 1995's Land of the Free album. Before that Gamma Ray was more of a Kai Hansen outlet project, with a revolving door of players, and Kai musically wanting to still be in Helloween (physically and mentally no, but musically yes). He realized this and was forced to write off kilter versions of what he would have wrote in Helloween (Gamma ray is not Helloween). In 1995 he broke free and true Gamma Ray was born!
