Foam is used as a filler substitute with in the concrete , so as not have so much concrete , making the top heavy, foam is used to lighten the load , it's strength is from the fiber and scrim mesh, which is called a foam core top.

the countertop will not crack, it has mesh in the mix and it has the roll of mesh and after you put the foam the last mix you have to put another roll of mesh on the sides and back and it will like he said a sandwich affect , it will be a strong counter for sure
