A car needs to do a few things: Be safe, efficient, have a good resale value and be inexpensive to purchase and inexpensive and easy to fix by the average person. The only things a car really needs is A/C, cruise, a radio, ABS, air bags and possibly stability control for safety and in 2012, the car MUST get 50 to 60 mpg. That's MY idea of performance...

@stiantiger That all sound very well, and it would be nice if the world of motoring were that way. Sadly, there are morons everywhere who are just waiting to crash into you, and THAT is where you want a safe car.
