3M Thin Mirror Films for Solar Utility Applications - buildaroo.com

Dan spoke with the Buildaroo News Team about 3Ms solar mirror film made from silver deposited on polymers. This mirror film is used for CSPs and reflects 94% of the sunlight in comparison to aluminum and thick glass mirrors which reflect 88% and 92-93% of sunlight respectively.

This product has other advantages over glass mirrors. It is lighter in weight than glass, less costly, more durable and lead free. It also has a lot of flexibility in terms of design.

3M is working with Gossamer Space Frames in creating a complete CSP package using this product. They are targeting the utility market.

@MrFennmeista No your not building it with this 3M 1100 product. They reserve that for large customers only, so they can charge through the roof for something that costs them 30 cents a square foot to make. They suck off the government to get grants to help them build their "green products" and the lower end consumers get the shaft. Contact your congressmen and let them know if the products aren't affordable and aren't making it down to the citizen consumers to stop the waste!
