They aren't all like this. Watch Mark of Zorro, fencing scene in Die Another Day, the Four Musketeers, Rob Roy, or the sword duels in Game of Thrones.

Good fights are properly choreographed (where you can actually spot the fencing techniques being employed) but they are also grounded in reality (as opposed to spinning and flipping needlessly) and are emotionally charged confrontations between different characters. The fights in the prequels lack all of these aspects.

All Hollywood staged fights are like this.

Added that lightsaber props will break if you smash them together, and it's a freaking laser sword - you don't need physical might to chop someone in half.

False. There are many fight scenes in film history that are both intense and very convincing.

The main problem with the fights here is A) no emotions driving their actions therefore no tension therefore no drama therefore audience doesn't care who wins, B) they are blatantly hitting eachother's swords, and C) superfluous movements.

I'm sorry, but does the video author know anything about stage combat at all? This video literally makes me cringe at it's pretentious ignorance and stupidity.

Nothing of what you say changes the fact that the dueling scenes were equally believable in the OT and PT. As for your subjective opinion that nobody with any "wit" cared about which characters died.. that's pretty arrogant. Only because the characters didn't appeal to you, doesn't mean those who cared are without "wit".
