Needing one point to clinch the first playoff appearance in franchise history, Columbus overcame 2-0 and 3-2 deficits to earn that point when Rick Nash scored at 14:30 of the third period, forcing overtime before 21,536 fans at United Center. Fedor Tyutin added the game-winner in the shootout.
