I'm not sure thats really the engine missing as much as it may be the video or the sound track simply unable to keep up with the video. If I had a plane that was doing that, I would not be flying it for long, or at least I would fly it to a stop, get out and call a mechanic.
Actually, in this 3/4 aerodrome airplanes Dr.1, it has an inline engine, not rotary, so the plane you are seeing has throttle control, and there is no need to blip anything. The original Dr.1 had a rotary engine, but not this 3/4 scale replica kit.
Replicas... there are no original Dr.1s left in existance (though there are other original WW1 aircraft still in existence, most as static displays in museums. This is a 3/4 scale version offered as plans / kit from Airdrome Aeroplanes
actualy the real airplane has two speed and two only-, on and off. so that is what it is supposed to sound like. but i do not hear the other plane so you could be right about the dubing
Its a silent video so the author dubbed over the video with a track of such an airplane on the ground with their engine sound being blipped... so you would have some sound to the video. Its dubbed because it does not match the video, the pilot would not be blipping the engine when he is flying like that, and you wouldn't hear the sound anyway like that from another plane.

Not all used blip switches. Original DR.1s had a throttle, as did many other late-WW1 aircraft.

yea theyre all on off throttles of this period, so if either original, replica or dubbed essentially its acurate.
