How important is the DLNA protocol? Well, it's the way the rest of the industry will compete with Apple's AirPlay. What does it do? It lets you watch video on your tablet, decide you want to see that on a different screen, and let you push it over to a large screen. Here I visit the DLNA exhibit at the Consumer Electronics Show.

  • @cloudassistneil right, understand now. Using the DLNA protocol, service providers (possibly one day Google), could be providing a subscription plan where they use DLNA to push out content via the web to homes around the world using a CDN network.

  • I'm trying to understand why this is any different to say samsung allshare? DLNA has been out for a number of years, I have at least been doing this for the last 3 years with DLNA software on my PC streaming to my samsung, controlled via my iphone...is this all new for the american market?
