My liberal friend, of course it's an over simplification. This is youtube. but make no mistake about it. It was more of an ultimatum than you realize. We were on the brink of continental inhalation. At some point during the diplomacy an decision has to be made and that decision was based on military might.
Point being, sometimes diplomacy works and sometimes it doesn't. Obama wants to "talk" to the terrorist...that's laughable. They don't WANT to talk to us. They want to KILL us.

To call it a "chat" was glib, but to say Kennedy delivered an ultimatum to the Soviets is an inaccurate oversimplification. There were days of delicate negotiations, and the U.S. offered something in return for Soviet withdrawal, i.e., assurances they would not invade Cuba. Kennedy and Khrushchev used diplomacy to avoid a catastrophic military confrontation. That's not weak. It's smart.

I don't think the US is nearly as bad the VC was at all, but we've seem to have lost our moral compass. There is a well known case of a detainee who was deliberately left a bullet in a detainees leg by US intelligence. This is similar to McCain story or an original serious wound made worse by captors.

Kennedy didn't a have "chat" with Khrushchev as Obama said...Kennedy told Khrushchev to remove the missiles in Cuba or we launch now, thereby obverting WW3. Kennedy had guts. Obama is a wuse. McCain will be strong against world threats.

I thought it was the VC-imposed stress positions that caused the arm injury, but it's been a while since I read the account.
What's truly incredible to me, as I'm trying to remember McCain's horrible ordeal, is that most of the techniques the VC used on him are not considered to be "torture" by the current administration.

Huh? McCain probably would have done better with proper medical care, but it was a *plane crash* that caused his severe arm injuries. I used to be proud to call myself a Republican, but it disgusts me that most seem content with half-truths these days.

that was a rhetorical ass whipping. right or wrong, most of obamas positions are very popular, and mccains are not. add to that obama talks circles around the guy and it doesnt look good for mccain.
