As Pilot In Command of an aircraft declaring an emergency is something that should not be taken lightly however, when an emergency is declared that aircraft has all priority over any and all traffic, I dont give a shit if Air Force One is trying to land you DO NOT tell the aircraft they cant land on the runway they need. You may as well be condemning them do death. The air traffic controller and the FAA supervisor are not suitable for their jobs and dont deserve to keep them!

The captain is the one responsible for the aircraft and all souls on board at the end of the day, once a Mayday has been declared, safety overtakes commercial activity and gain. The captain should of been allowed to land where he so wished, he knows best, right!?

@19Truth53 pilot should've just stated again he's declaring an emergency, is taking 17 center, and gone NORDO. They would've cleared out airspace for him. Might've cost him his wings in the end but better to be known as the guy that saved his passengers than to be known as the guy who crashed and burned.

if you declare an emergency, YOU ARE THE BOSS. you can do whatever you want. It's outrageous that he was denied the runway he wanted.
