@BlindBusDrivr As an aside,consider how "superior" the nazis would have been had the "allies" decided to play hardball with hitler & co. in 1936? Hitler even knew this, that is why he had very little time & always had Dr Morell examine him. Instead hitler was appeased till he gushed & called everybody "worms" hence Poland was stabbed in the back in 1939 & 1945.

@BlindBusDrivr The mission of the sortie made by the Poles was diversionary anyway & was successful initially, that is when the German armored reconnaissance vehicles appeared from the forest road, and soon the Polish units came under heavy machine gun fire....Would you have stuck around for that? Despite all of this, a myth was born in addition to many others fabricated by the nazis, yet they managed a colossal loss at Stalingrad despite their superior military advantage & "superman" status.

@BlindBusDrivr I don't deny it.Is it illegal to save "wear/tear" on the fingers? The "sabre" was ceremonial in the Polish army as in many armies.Nazis had swords/daggers also. Who said the Poles "attacked with sabres"? The account says "elements" of the cavalry saw an opening to engage a nazi "infantry battalion", the APC's were stationed "nearby", since this was a forested area, it would be elementary "Watson", to presume that the Poles were surprised & had to retreat.....

The Poles gave it all they had, but you cannot really deny they got dominated in WW2. 16%+ of the nation was killed.
