In defense of Venture, it had a creepy vibe that was wonderful. The music and characters really capture the imagination. The ghoul that enters after some time was horrific for a child. I remember really having the sense of penetrating deeper into a frightening dungeon.

I remember when I was about eight, I went over to a neighbor's house and started playing this. My friend left me alone and I just stayed there and played it for god knows how long. I think they were miffed that I did that, but hey, it was a great game!
On second thought maybe I just went upstairs to the landing and started playing of my own accord, I'm not sure.

Wow. This brings back memories! My grandparents had Colecovision. I would play this whenever I was over there. Yeah it sucks but it has such sentiment and nostalgia for me personally.

wow, I'm really surprised by this review, Venture is an absolute classic, still very challenging and fun, the sights and sounds of the game are classic arcade style. Loved Venture as a kid, and if I stumble across it I'm always happy to play again.

Not only was the main character poorly rendered, he was poorly named ("Winky"? With a name like that, growing up as a member of a barbarian tribe in the Cimmerian wilderness must have been a bitch.)
