I'm Jumma Khan, representative of the labourers of Pul-e-Surkh
Our government doesn't care for labourers.
It's a capitalistic government that doesn't care for the poor.
The government should build factories etc.
There's no work.
For poor people, this is hell!
Uncle, you can't find work too?
I can't. There's no work.
I sit here with my wheelbarrow till the evening & there's no work.
روز تا شام همرای کراچی میشنم و کار پیدا نمیشود
How much do you earn every day?
Perhaps 50 Afghanis ( US$1 ) or so...
Bringing peace depends on the government....is it dependent on America or other governments? Or is it independent? It's clear that it is not independent.
You work on Fridays? Yes.
Do you go to school? Yes.
Which grade are you in? The 6th grade
When you work on Fridays, how much do you earn?
Between 50 to 100 Afghanis ( US$1 to US$2 )
Who listens? Who cares for us?
Where do they find money to build these 6-to-7 floor buildings?
From their salaries? They are all traitors. Where did they get the money from?
I've worked 'fifty & a hundred years' & I still cannot find enough money.
Our members of parliament are traitors. They have each sold this country out.
They don't even let us through their doors to hear our complaints though they're our MPs.
Our hearts are completely 'cold' towards the government & the MPs. In the next elections, we may even decide not to vote at all
The problem is that whether we vote or not, they choose & place each other in power.
In this situation, nothing will work.
Won't education work?
No, so what if you study? After you've graduated, who will give you work?
My message to the people is to wake up & be smart. We shouldn't be deceived by the MPs, like we've been in the past.
Firstly, the reason why Afghanistan has not progressed is that we have no tolerance for one another.
My request is only of the people, that we should be united, in order to get our rights, because if the people don't unite, no one will give us our rights.
Afghanistan's official unemployment rate is 35%
1 in 4 Eurozone youth are unemployed, despite many graduates.
Around the world, almost 300 million 15-to-24-year-olds have no work.
If the people don't unite, no one will give us our rights.
