Docking stations.... One device for everything. Less cost.... Pretty obvious really.

The iPad is useful for working and studing in many ways, I honestly don't see any reason why would anyone would want to have a full desktop experience without a keyboard and mouse.

The biggest mistake Bill Gates ever made was giving Steve Ballmer the keys to the kingdom. It's a shame too because I believe competition brings out the best for the consumer. Clearly Apple and Google have the phone and tablet market in control now. I have a MAC now and the new iPad along with an Android phone. It's sad to see microsoft fall this hard. It's not like i'm rooting against them either. Windows 8 will do great for tablets and phones but it's too late i think

Watching ballmer show what should be the most exciting product coming from MS shows why even though these guys had a 10 yr head start they are still a massive fail when it comes to understanding what people want. Can you imagine a legion of teen and college students fumbling with stylus and waiting for Win7 to boot up while their contemporaries are firing up their iPads with a zillion apps and getting laid every night.

Good job ballmer - you wouldn't be able to give these away

There needs to be coup internally in Microsoft before this buffoon runds them underground. I mean Windows 7 on a tablet? Seriously? Clearly a company with no vision.

P.S I am NOT an apple fan.

Wait! Steve *Ballmer* showed us the future! Unfortunately, Apple was "too little, too late" with their -as my classmates would say- idiot Produced aggravated downer (iPad). Let there be no mistake here: Jobs' iSomething does not even come close to my slate-PC. Slate-PC's fit our lifestyle. Slate-PC's vary. Slate-PC's work. Now if you excuse me, I'll be multitasking with my Courier w/ Outlook, Office, etc.,
