  • Both my grandfather and grandmother helped in the canteen, He isn't in the video, but she is a few times.

  • Hi, I'd love to know more about your grandparents....can you point your grandmother out in video? Can you share some of their stories with me? I'm still captured by what North Platte and the surrounding region accomplished during those years. If you google north platte canteen, you can get to the pictures that I included in this video. send me one of your grandmother. Thanks, Jay

  • This is very inspiring. I recently joined the Maine Troop Greeters, we meet EVERY flight that comes to Bangor International Airport (over 5600) We have been privileged to shake hands with 1,150,000 troops. Thanks for posting this, it is excellent.

  • I have two telegrams that my grandfather sent to my grandmother from north platte. my daddy grew up there. this is pretty cool to see.

  • I lived in Crawford during this time and remember the troop trains and the convoys going and coming and the main hiway into town passed through Fort Robinson as a kid I was in awe of the soldiers. Thanks for a great post.

  • God bless our troops and those that support their effort!

  • bad sound. see the same video with proper sound elsewhere on youtube. This is a very compelling video that all Americans should see.

  • This is an example of the way we should all act during war! We should thank every man (or woman) we see in a military uniform! Have some pride in our country, and praise the men (or women) who are defending our country/way of life.

  • oh yeah..that town is "out there"!
