  • What a great video, happy memories I owned the same model for three years, they did not go fast but what a great fun car

  • @mentonish - Appreciate your comments, I know exactly what you mean. They dont need to go fast to fun!

  • I had a '66 just like this but with wire wheels - reg HGE 2D. wonder what happened to it. I had a boot rack too (still got it) andduring the three years I owned it - 69/72 - we drove to Spain and back. Tiny inside, but fun all the way.

  • @rooftopjump - I'd love some wire wheels for this one. I am very much enjoying this car, glad I did end up buying it! I've already done a few long distance trips in it, it's just lacking a decent stereo now. Cheers.

  • They are a good looking car

  • @BattleScarGT The wires did make a difference. They were a pig to clean, but it would be easier these days with the spray on cleaners you can get. I always had a problem with the lever arm shocks at the front - keep an eye on them for leaks. My mate had the next model up and it was improved in several respects, not least of all the folding hood and the 1300cc engine. But at least I had winding windows (unlike the earlier ones) and leather seats. Beautifully simple little cars.
