This is Jason Perry playing scales and sight reading on the french horn. He used this video to audition for the 7th and 8th grade symphonic band at his middle school. Hope he makes it!!

When I was in 7th grade I could play almost all of my scales 3 octaves. And this kid is great for his age. Btw, you're supposed to slur down on your scales, idiot.

1. low f is typically fingered trigger open, but if 1 works then there's nothing wrong with doing it that way.

2. The scales were quite impressive for a middle school student, would have been better if it were all in one take but it's fine the way it is.

3. Very impressive low range and a respectable high range. I was extremely impressed that the two octave scales were all done without resetting the embouchure.

Really awesome range for your age! I definitely wasn't getting low c's in middle school. :) Keep it up! :D
