I have had a lot of folks asking about the Dark Energy and its lack of a square wave from the VCO. Well its possible to make one if you adjust the Pulse width just right. And if you patch the CV2 into the VCO PW input you can user a pitch bender to change over to a triangle as you play :-)

  • BTW Scott, the Roland controller looks spectacular - Great work with the wood sides...makes it look really expensive.

  • @newpro5657 Thanks! When I go t that one it had the entire right side smashed, Pitch bender totaly broken, and 9 keys were broken off. Took some time, parts and work, but its like new now. Great controller because it has aftertouch, semi weighted keys, lots of controller inputs, 3 MIDI outs. Plays like butter. You can also create splits and layers over different MIDI channels and save them to the Mem card.

  • Steve Miller Band. I think it was Jungle Love. Sounds great.

  • @mattsynth Correction ... Its the end part of fly like an eagle.. Thanks for the listen Matt. Truly enjoy you music and vids. very inspiring :-)

  • @ilsennodipoi I don't own one of these but I think he's saying putting the PW all the way to the right or left eliminates it altogether. And then having the PW right in the middle should be a true square wave.

  • @tachelesreden

You mean the PW all right or left and PWM all left, right?

  • @newpro5657

On the Dark Energy you always have a square signal!

If you want pure square set the VCO shape switch to the middle position.

The other positions are square with triangel and square with saw.

You can eliminate the suare portion by arranging the PWM controller to all left or all right.

    Best Regards from Germany

  • Hot licks and Doepfer tricks! So retro it makes we want to fly like an Eagle. Square wave sound indeed, but there is no switch for it....you have to program it. Good job, cool sound, square wave plus....I hear a little extra in there that I could not even get from the little phatty. Could I have another, sir?

  • Dark Energy - top bit of kit, top vid, thanks...enjoying mine..!

(Correction, LOVING mine - can't beat real analogue)
