10-1-09: Marco on CNN "Whatever happened to intelligent debate in this country?"

Jack Cafferty reads an E-Mail I wrote for him. The question he posed was, "When it comes to health care reform, whatever happened to intelligent debate in this country?" I know you probably won't be able to watch this, but thanks Mr. Cafferty for picking my E-Mail!

His script and posed question:

This country ought to be embarrassed. Our government has turned the debate over health care reform into a series of misrepresentations, name-calling and ugly comments more fit for a school yard than a national forum. First came the Republicans — led by Sarah Palin — who went on and on about death panels.

She was followed by Congressman Jim Wilson — who called the president a liar during his speech to a joint session of Congress, a public outburst toward the president weve never seen the likes of.

But its by no means just the Republicans.

On the floor of the House of Representatives, Freshman Democratic Congressman Alan Grayson claimed the Republican health care plan calls for sick people to die quickly.

Grayson then went on to issue a non-apology saying he apologizes to the dead and their families that we havent voted sooner to end this holocaust in America. Really? Hes comparing the plight of uninsured Americans to the Holocaust?

Graysons a real class act. Right here in the Situation Room yesterday he called Republicans foot-dragging, knuckle-dragging Neanderthals.

What has happened to us? We used to be able to engage in an intelligent debate, be willing to compromise, reach a consensus, and move on. And when the government engages in this kind of childish behavior, its no surprise when ordinary Americans start yelling nasty slogans and lies at each other. Sad.

Heres my question to you: When it comes to health care reform, whatever happened to intelligent debate in this country?

Intelligent debate? Liberal ideas cannot be debated because they are based on lies and not on facts. Besides, liberals cannot debate they are just limited to ridicule and personal attacks.

I've come across a lot of people on here who don't know what idiot means, they seem to think that it means "you disagree with my politics etc etc", Could you elaborate upon what you mean?

What happened to intelligent debate in the USA ?

After more and more education / arts cuts in our schools and instead of working to improve oneself intellectually bitching that you don't drive a Bentley Turbo R , the trend is for US citizens to become more and more ..stupid ? As an American Im shocked to say that Im constantly amazed that most of the people I interact with on a daily basis are able to breath without a manual . Seriously ................. the typical American is an idiot .
