I purchased the ram from www.macsales.com

  • I'm not trying to be rude but is this really necessary? What applications are you running (simultaneously I'm guessing) that requires this much RAM?

  • @ShakeAndBakeGuy Yes it is. I am going to need to add more in the near future. Currently I have 6.2 GB wired and 6.25 GB active. I am running OS X Server inside of a Virtual Machine along with Windows Server 2008. I also use the machine for Final Cut and CS5 work.

  • I WISH I HAD A MAC :(

  • @izak1992 I love them and hate them at the same time!

  • So how much ram do you have now?

  • i love the mac pro!

  • @ShakeAndBakeGuy I have a Mac Pro as well, and when you have 8 CPUs you really don't use it for simple desktop applications! In my case, I have 24 Gigabytes(!) of RAM and I use it ALL for 3D rendering, video editing and music production. A simple desktop/gaming computer gets away with 4 Gigabytes of RAM easily. That can't be compared to a beast of a workstation where you NEED lots of RAM to support the workload without paging to disk constantly.

  • @freeridezach EPIC WIN.

  • @Domreis7337 that explains my feelings.

  • Damn, I bet that runs spread sheets real fast!

  • It stops being a mac when you put you're own parts in; then it becomes a Personal Computer. :)

  • @ShakeAndBakeGuy bitch please, everybody like a fast computer.

  • do these have dual channel or what? or does it even matter how many ram cards you have in at a time?

  • @TheSantiayo For the most part, no. There are some cases where you may be able to connect 2 Mac Pro's but it's mostly for specific tasks.

  • @AreMacsOverpriced Ohh men! I make a mistake!

I mean, can you connect two mac `s pro to the other and make a super powerful machine?

    Thanks!

  • @TheSantiayo Are you talking about RAM still?

  • @AreMacsOverpriced can you connect to mac pro for use the 2 as on single computer?

or can someone do that but with other computers?

    Thanks!
