A Notre Dame classmate of mine played the mayor in Hoosiers. Never acted before or after but he will remind us he "co-starred" with Gene Hackman and Dennis Hopper.

I live in Indiana and coach high school soccer. I basically did the same thing during a game a few years ago. I wasn't happy with the way some of the boys were playing and benched them all to start the second half. I told the ref that I was going to start the 2nd half with a man down (to make a point to my players who were not giving it their all). It was awesome. I totally felt like Norman Dale. I saw the parents across the field so confused. One of them even sent me a text about it, haha.

Society loves coaches with values and morals. But do you know what society loves even more than that? Winning. That's unfortunately why you got canned. If it's between having a losing team where each player has morals and character coached into him, or a winning team that has players in trouble with law, breaking rules, etc., guess which one will get your rehired?

In my first year as a high school freshman basketball coach, I had more players benched for breaking team rules (skipping practice), in one particular game, than playing. I was fired the next year. Oh well.
