It would have been nice if just 45 and 78 worked, the belt would be an obvious suspect. Must just be a combination of hard rubber and gummy metal. I've got one like it that runs fast and thumps (on all speeds) ; someday I'll try putting the idler wheel on a drill; then bite the bullet and get a reconditioned one if that fails.
