Aimee Semple McPherson: A Life In Photos

Aimee Semple McPherson (October 9, 1890 -- September 27, 1944), also known as "Sister Aimee" or "Sister," was a Canadian-born evangelist and media sensation in the 1920s and 1930s; she was also the founder of the Foursquare Church. [1] She was a pioneer in the use of modern media, especially radio, to create a form of religion that drew heavily on the appeal of popular entertainment.

Was she the Rat fink that the press tried to make her to be? Please don't take offense but the press is almost always wrong about people, but sometimes........

I lived pretty close to Angeles Temple, it was beautiful, but I always wonder how would a church in that undeveloped part of Los Angeles have the money for something that grand in the 1920's?

Please tell me what you all know of her?

Read Daniel Epstein's book about her...it answers a lot of questions...

actually...there were many other churches in LA at that time that had more money and significant buildings.

My grandmother's sister hated Aimee...

but Aimee ministered and encouraged millions and then Jesus changed the lives of many, many people who are now in the history books because they served others for their whole lives and gave people encouragement that Jesus loves them!

I got saved in a four Square Church which she is responsible for founding all the Four Square ministry i didn't even know what born again was when i went to the church . Thank you Aimee I Thank you thank you thank you for your sacrifice and labors if i hadn't walked into a four square church 18 years ago i may not have had a chance to come to know the Lord ! to him all praise and glory amen .

I appreciated this video and enjoyed it very much. My great grandparents attended Angelus temple and our family has continued Aimee's challenge to preach the Foursquare Gospel to the world.

She was not a perfect person. Only Christ has that honor and when we put ministers/people in the category we will always be disappointed because that person will always come short. God can use any vessel no matter how flawed, or misguided for his purpose and glory. She was a woman before her time.

Great woman of God and great music. What God used her to bring to America we need again and we need it now. Have had several dreams about her and in the dreams God has shown me How Very Strong she was in the Lord. In one part of the dream she rolled up and word of god and ate it. Kind of like Ezekiel. Thanks for this post and if you know where I can listen to some of her sermons let me know.

She is also the founder of one of the largest pentacostal denominations in the world - 4 square.
