"Sight, Sound and Silence" documents the journey of Richie T. Najor, an aspiring filmmaker who must not only overcome the usual trials and tribulations associated with succeeding in the difficult profession of filmmaking, but must also face the stigmas associated with being deaf. After earning a degree in screenwriting and directing from Columbia College Chicago, the largest film school in the United States, Richie moves to Hollywood in pursuit of his dream of becoming a filmmaker.
After two years in Los Angeles spent mostly jobless, lonely, and frustrated, Richie decides to get the highly controversial cochlear implant to increase the chances of achieving his quest. Richie's favorite musician Nikki Sixx, the bass player from Motley Crue, comes to visit him at UCLA Hospital when his implant is activated. This is Richie's first conversation with his new cochlear implant.
After some time adjusting to his new hearing, he begins to redevelop his script as he experiences new sounds and how they affect his daily routine. The documentary will conclude with Richie raising money for and making his feature film "Edge of a Dream", which is a story based on his life experience as a deaf person caught between the Deaf and hearing world.
