  • Although many of the trained operatic 'voices' of the opera world may render this aria technically more perfect, Filippa Giordano's relatively untrained voice captures the spirit of the song, and renders it acceptable to those, like myself, who cannot abide the pretensions of the so-called classically trained voices - which I have to turn off immediately. This grabs the heartstrings [which is all that matters] and makes me want to listen! - that's the difference.

  • One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever, and sung by a very pure voice.

  • lovely voice; thnx.

  • @Tiernaboul3259 Do you even have an idea what this aria is about? You are saying how this captures "the spirit" of it, how so? Did you read the context and the lyrics? I understand that you may not like opera and prefer pop - this is fine, but this is just bad by all standards. I think what you like is the melody - the great melody by Bellini which survives even this - and a pop voice.

  • This is truly horrible by any standards - pop or opera. She simply cannot sing.

  • a piece of shit that will be eaten up by the ignorant wanna be cultured.

  • @HorridHelen1 Rubbish - she cannot sing pop or opera - it's hilariously bad by any standards of decency.

  • @Tiernaboul3259 I can see what you mean. But if you feel that classically trained singers can appear pretentious, you are right - they have failed. But this is even more pretentious. She simply cannot sing (pop or opera, classical or self taught her voice is not supported on the breath (which makes a good pop or opera singer), she sings some of the notes out of tune, and goes off into pretentious "fancy bits" which are hilarious not only to opera lovers but to those who like lighter music.
