Wait isn't the song about how his son was born pre-mature then he prayed every day that he'd be ok, but he ended up dying. And the song is well just about him praying that his son will live, and how well he give up his life for his son.

In an interview years ago whenever this song came out, Hyde said the lyrics are written as if from the perspective of Mary watching her Son dying on the cross and basically begging God to take her instead. Just a mother begging to save her son. Nothing much more than that. Hyde just throws in lots of religious imagery into his concerts because he's Japanese and it's a pop culture novelty thing with imported Western religion stuff. Chorus melody is good especially with key change at "life" :)

@WingsMARK Actually, the song is about an individual praying to Jesus Christ. Now regardless of the taunts and ridicule that they suffer for believing in Christ and in the power of prayer, the individual continues to pray and worship the Lord. They are praying about their dying child's life and pleading with Him to please save the child. The individual then offers God a trade, their life for the child's. In their lament they cry out "God give me death".

@andreasmariosetiawan "God give me death" it's just a part of the phrase: "Take me instead, god give me death". About the meaning: HYDE is singing like if he was Jesus, he asks to God to take him/give him death instead of us. This is obviously inspired on the story of Jesus, like you already know, he died for us on the cross. I hope I helped you :) ... Very original and inspiring lyrics by Hyde xP
