Powered by a rather frightening amount of tension in a bundle of twisted cord, this is a model of a type of field artillery used in Europe and Asia for at least two and a half thousand years. It had a far greater range than the lumbering counterweight trebuchets that specialised in throwing heavier projectiles against thick stone walls. This evening mine was throwing golf balls an estimated 50 metres and landing them in remarkably close groups.
this is amazing. my catapult is similar in design but doesn't have a very good distance. i wonder if it will work better if i change the end from a cup to a sling
