Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it. Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held. Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books. Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin. Believe nothing just because someone else believes it. Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true." Lord Buddha

I seem to find meditation easier if I concentrate on nothing and hold that still in my mind trying to keep other thoughts out, is this because I lack strength of concentration?

ive had experiences where i feel like im somewhere else while seeing it. its sorta like a conscious dream. what does this mean? is this astral projection?

@RekkrVakaViss No, it's pleasurable, especially when I'm very relaxed in a position such as corpse pose in yoga. Why, I'm not very sure. I think it's because there's either blood flowing faster through my veins or there's more more nerve activity going on when I relax my hands. I don't type much, but I do use the track pad on my laptop quite a bit. But I'll ask a doctor about it. Thank you.

@DosToltec check with your doctor to make sure you're not suffering from some kind of muscle or nerve problem in your hands. It may be that if you type too much you may have a problem in your hands. If it's an unenjoyable feeling I'd say change the position of your hands until they're relaxed, and if it's a distraction again, try to relax your hands more. It could really be anything, consult a doctor. x

I have a question to anyone who wants to answer: I've been meditating for a couple of weeks now, and for the last week i've been feeling an ecstatic tickling sensation on the outside of my thumbs. does anyone know what is going on, because I'm not sure what it is.

@Aaibtd ha ha, thanks, actually I was wondering that! :)

@liuyuki For those wondering where they can read this, the website Access to Insight has it. Look for the Kalama Sutta. :D

I commented on a video about zen bhudism a year ago which went along the same lines as LIUYUKI's commented below. Far from having thumbs up I was hugley commented on being narrow minded and rasist. I said, "how can you agree with him, his English is so bad I could'nt understand a word he said." Gob smacked by the response! ha ha

Wisdom comes from more then one source, and to narrow your view to a single wise man, is folly. Test it all, Question it all, find your answers.
Visuddhimagga = 5th century Theravada commentary
sila = morality, ethical conduct
piti = rapture, blissful feeling
