this is another example of the inability of our politicians to answer basic questions. It is not debate it is simply an over beauracratic system which allows people like Helen Clark and Steve Maharey to back out of questions without ever really answering them. John Key is a far better public speaker than Clark, he answers questions

Look im all for uploading this sort of content on the web, debates like this are so much more informative than the watered down affairs on TV3 and TV1. But can we PLEASE not have edited, cut and excerpted versions of them? NZNATS I don't know if you are cutting things that impact negatively on Mr Key, but I can hardly come to a proper conclusion when there is clear evidences of cuts. Any incumbent pushes its message. National did it in the 90's, Labour is doing it now, the public does actually need to know what the Government is doing.

The thing about Democracy is that Elections have consequences, and when you win it means you are in a better position to put your point of view across.

That is how these things work.

That's easily explained: They were facing the second weakest National opposition in living memory, added to that it was an opposition completely devoid any form of illustrated policy. The same baseless rhetoric was there, but when it came to hard numbers, facts and figures it gave the New Zealand voter nothing in which to place their trust and confidence. The electorate could probably remember the stagnation of the Shipley era as well.
