There are 2 significant differences. Firstly, the US economy was destroyed by the banks. In Greece the banks were healthy but were destroyed by the collapse of the public economy. Secondly, the US can print money while Greece cannot.

I'm from germany, and have been to the US many times, and all over europe. In my opinion, europe is the best place on earth. Then again, I don't live in europe anymore, maybe things have changed over the last 5 years..
