@SlyNine Actually, scientists don't try to prove theories. They only test them. If a theory is unfalsified after repeated attempts then it becomes known as a scientific law. This does not mean that it is proven.

That was Crosstie / Buggy, a Plowshare project to demonstrate the possibility of using nukes to dig a canal. In this case, it was five nukes of 1.08 kt each. You can see the result at 37.00748,-116.37174 (just open google maps, cut and paste the numbers into the search, then zoom back to find the green arrow).

@liltimmyspeashooter if you would read more closely instead of trolling you would see that i said "to help end the japanese part of the war", after VE day the US concentrated on ending the fight with japan and they recruited einstein to help with the manhatten project because of his nuclear work with the nazis, of course at the time all of this was top secret
