The Queen: from Richard II - Must We Part?
Richard II, by William Shakespeare
Act V, Scene 1
King Richard has been taken prisoner, and the Queen goes to see him on his way to the Tower, learning then that they are to be parted forever.
(The Queen)
But soft, but see, or rather do not see
My fair rose wither. Yet look up, behold,
That you in pity may dissove to dew,
And wash him fresh again with true-love tears.
........
What, is my Richard both in shape and mind
Transformed and weakened? Hath Bollingbroke
Deposed thine intellect? Hath he been in thy heart?
The lion dying thrusteth forth his paw
And wounds the earth, if nothing else, with rage
To be o'erpowered; and wilt thou ...
...That art a lion and the king of beasts?
..........
One kiss shall stop our mouths, and dumbly part;
Thus give I mine, and thus take I thy heart.
