Jeannie's rendition of 'John Anderson, my Jo' was staggeringly good, I wish I could hear that again

no she died in the 1970's. my granda Stanley robertson passed away in august tragically. He was jeannies nephew and carried the torch for folk singers. Now my dad antony has just won men singing competions across scotland and england to keep the robertson tradition alive. He remembers jeannie and could tell you many a story.

Ah. I'm pleased they've compiled Lomax's British recordings in one place (on cd I mean). I have an lp by Lomax of folk songs from England. I was gonna bide my time to collect the others (from Ireland etc).
It would seem our Jeannie Robertson is from Scotland going by the accent and surname.
aye!!!! she was most definatley from scotland!!! Aberdeen, jeannie is my great great auntie.

For real? That's crazy. Did you ever meet her when she was alive?

Thanks for the additional info.
It's just a compilation of songs from the British Isles about nooky really, as opposed to all the folk songs. The album is titled Songs of Seduction. While I can't say I find any of the songs very seductive, most of them are rather witty and humorous.
